IS THERE NOTHING WE CAN DO?
Is There Nothing We Can Do? focus on the 2017 headlines currently happening in America. I decided to work with news and typography in my installation considering we do not focus on it as much as we need to because it does not affect us, but through my installation, I want to alter the audiences so they can ask themselves, Is There Nothing We Can Do?
Adding typography to my installation makes it more informative as well as engaging because of your reading and passing through this room of troubling and hanging headlines that have no end. From the ceiling are headlines from earlier this year to the bottom is the most recent of last week. During this process, I have been documenting and cutting out daily news that comes from the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, The Alt-Right , and many more. Illustrated on the headlines are videos of 2017 news, that becomes violent and disturbing to the viewers. I would want the audience to ask themselves, did you know this was currently happening in the news? And if not, does this not impact you in your life?
